North of the 400

North of Toronto, South of a championship

One for McNair

It’s extraordinarily sad and depressing to hear what became of Steve McNair, one of the greatest individual talents I’ve ever seen in the NFL. In case you didn’t, he was found dead this afternoon, killed a little more then a year after retiring.

When he retired, I made a post reflecting on his career. I thought that he was the most influential quarterback of his era, the one who was truely a duel threat – such a word seems wrong, in context of his murder – because he was an excellent passer and a good runner too; McNair beseeched McNabb, Vick and Young. If a team used the wildcat offense in 2001, just think of what his Titans could have done.

Take care, Air McNair – North of the 400
